About Us
Vision
The vision of sunflower schools which is reflected through its curriculum is for each child to live and learn through living. Pupils are entitled to a broadly based education in a stimulating learning environment. Children will be exposed to a wide variety of learning opportunities during their time at sunflower schools and they will be given every encouragement to develop their interest and skills.
The importance of a sound start in basic language, reading, numeracy and awareness of the world around them is central to our work in the early years. We use a comparative system of learning where ideas are gotten all over the world to make learning rich and child centered. We make use of the Nelson English programme including hard writing and spelling skills as well as the letters and sound phonics programme to ensure a holistic reading system.
Throughout the school the importance of curriculum webbing is emphasized. All subjects are related one way or the other. The various learning intelligences as stipulated by Howard gardener are considered in developing the curriculum. This gives the teaching style a more individualistic approach.
